Christmas 2016 - Members of the Burgiemen, Thunderbolts and Challengers car clubs delivered Christmas gifts to the children at the Shriner's Childrens hospital.
The Burgiemen Car Club was established in 1959. At that time members were required to paint the inside of the fender wells of their cars white. A car inspection was conducted at every meeting.
In the early 1960's club meetings were held in a room at Mel's Drive-In at 19th and J Streets. At the time members were issued a membership card as seen below. The Burgiemen were also members of the Northern California Counsel of Car Clubs.
In the early 1960's the Burgiemen Car Club sponsored a series of dances and different venues around Sacramento. These dances featured Johnnie and the Dominions who did incredible renditions of songs Beach Boys, Ray Charles, and others The Burgiemen even brought the Rolling Stones to Sacramento. The first dance was titled "Wipe Out" after the beach Boys song of the same name. After that, all dances were named with the second word being "out". At the time the club President was Gary Schiro. Gary was the driving force behind these successful ventures. These dances allowed the club to make a ski trip to Sugar Bowl Ski area for a weekend and to Santa Cruz for a weekend, all paid for by the club.
In 1965 Burgieman Gary Alvernaz showed his caar in the Autorama.

Every year the Burgiemen participate in a Run to the Delta ending at The Point in Rio Vista. These runs are coodinated by Burgieman Howdy Hoover. This years run started at the Freeport Inn in Freeport.
SUMMER MEETINGS IN THE PARK
During the summer the Burgiemen hold the monthly meetings with a breakfast in William Land Park. Of course Chef Bob Tayor prepared the meal.
The Burgiemen also have an annual River Cats party. This year the River Cats produced a win against Colorado and the fireworks were spectacular.
A great evening organized By Cindy and Gary Bulfinch.
